Tips For An Enjoyable Spring Break

By Andrew Tyahla on March 19, 2015

As March continues on, students all over the country will be going on spring break. For one week out of the year, classes are canceled and students get some time to rest or get some work done.

Of course, every student’s spring break experience is different. Some people go on a vacation. Others stay in town. Students may also have work during the break, be it schoolwork or a job. No matter the job, there are many ways to help make spring break more enjoyable.

Keep it affordable.

This should go without saying, but make sure you spend your time within your budget. While you could take that trip to Florida, California or Hawaii, these are some of the more expensive places to visit.

Keep in mind that you still have at least the rest of the semester to support yourself for. If you do want to take a trip during spring break, do a cross state road trip rather than booking an expensive flight and hotel room.

Keep up with your schoolwork.

While spring break is mostly hyped up as being for students, it is also a break for teachers as well. However, one professor may end up assigning homework over the break. As much of a drag as it is, you need to make time for your homework.

Depending on the assignment, it may be more prudent to spread it out across the break than to get it all done early. But if it is not much, get it done sooner than later so you can have more time to yourself later. Even if none of your professors expressly state you have homework, you may have a long-term project you could be working on during the break.

Do not pack too much.

If you are traveling, try to consolidate things so it fits into as few bags as possible. This means not only less stuff to carry but also more space to bring home souvenirs. If you are driving, less weight means less gas is needed to go greater distances, saving you some money.

Spend some time with family and friends.

Chances are, you have not seen your family in a while, so spring break is as good a time as any to visit them. Not only that, there are some things that are easier to discuss with family than anyone else. Even better, if your spring breaks overlap, now is also a great time to reconnect with friends from high school or other people you have not seen in a while.
